Downeast Wilderness Experience offers camping opportunities in the heart of the Down East forest in Northern Washington and Hancock Counties on Lower Sabao Lake, Upper Cranberry Lake, and Deer Lake.
Our location provides outdoor enthusiasts with ample opportunities to enjoy paddling, fishing, hunting, outdoor photography, swimming, hiking, ATV trails, and much more. There are numerous other lakes, rivers, and streams in the area, and Acadia National Park and Grand Lake Stream are easy day-trips.
Camping News and Events
Summer 2009 Camping: Campsites are open at all three lake campground locations. Reservations are recommended, but if you arrive without a reservation, we can accommodate you, if a site is available.
We offer special weekend rates, holiday rates, and full-season camping rates. Visit our campgrounds page for more information.
ATV trails will be open early May through the fall.
Down East Sunrise Trail Update: Construction is underway on the 85-mile Down East Sunrise Trail and could commence later summer or early fall 2009.
