Upper Cranberry Lake Campground
See DeLorme Maine Atlas & Gazeteer page 35, section 2-E.
Upper Cranberry Lake campground is the smallest of our three campgrounds. It has only eight sites, but is spacious and open. The campground sits high above the lake offering incredible water views. A path leads down to the lake, to a small beach with a nice swimming spot at the end of the path.
It is a perfect setting for a large group, family reunion, or corporate retreat. The entire campground can be reserved for a weekend or an entire week, with special group rates available.
For paddlers, Cranberry Lake offers the most opportunities to explore. Paddle from Upper Cranberry Lake through a big culvert into Lower Cranberry. These are both beautiful lakes with many remote beaches for picnic lunches and swimming. Second and Third Mopang Lakes are just down the road, offering wonderful fishing, kayaking, and canoeing opportunities.
Moose are plentiful in this area, and loons are present on both lakes. Eagles, deer, beavers and other wildlife may appear around any point or in any cove. A large bear was spotted swimming across Cranberry Lake this summer.
